Prospicience moved a family magazine publisher's ten year archive off a hacked WordPress install onto a fast modern site. About a thousand articles and 151 magazine issues now live in Gujarati, Hindi and English, each language complete on its own, with old links redirected and pages built for low cost phones.

Speed: First deploy on day one, done in three weeks.

## The challenge

Ten years of articles sat on a hacked WordPress site, read in three languages, mostly on low cost phones.

## Why it mattered

A hacked site puts readers at risk and drags down search visibility, and the archive was the publisher's main asset. Every week on the old install was another week of exposure, and a careless move would have broken ten years of links.

## What we built

- Moved the full archive to a modern, fast website with an easy admin panel.
- Gave each language its own complete site, with the right fonts for Gujarati, Hindi and English and no half translated pages.
- Redirected every old address to its new home, so search rankings and inbound links carry over.
- Put magazine issues, podcast episodes and videos one tap from any article.

## The result

- About 1,000 articles and 151 magazine issues on a clean, modern platform.
- Three complete language sites, built to the WCAG AA readability standard.
- Old links still work, so ten years of search value survives the move.
- Magazines, podcasts and video in one place, one tap from any article.

## Built for trust

The brand's colours and tone were written down as rules before any page was rebuilt, and each language stands alone, so the new site feels like theirs and no reader ever lands on a page in the wrong language.

## AI at work

AI assistants and search engines read the archive every day, and each page tells them exactly which language it is in. Readers who ask in Gujarati, Hindi or English are sent to the right article, and that is the version that gets quoted.

What it produces: pages AI assistants and search engines can quote, the right language version for each reader, ten years of links that still resolve.

- Language labels come straight from how the content is organised, so every new article is labelled correctly with no one maintaining them by hand.
- Old addresses redirect permanently, so the search value of ten years of articles carries over to the new site.
- No page ever falls back to another language, so an assistant never hands a Hindi reader a Gujarati page.

How it works day to day: Editors publish in the admin panel, one language at a time. Each page goes out labelled with its language and linked to its translations, and search engines and AI assistants pick up the right version for each reader.

## Figures from the delivered system

- articles moved: about 1,000
- magazine issues: 151
- languages: 3
- readability standard: WCAG AA

## The technology

- About a thousand articles and 151 magazine issues moved across
- Three complete languages, each with the right fonts

### Technical notes

- Content modelled as real localisation rather than a language field, with fallback disabled so no language bleeds into another
- Locale prefix enforced in middleware and old unprefixed URLs permanently redirected
- Correct hreflang derived from the localisation model rather than hand maintained
- Locale aware font loading for Gujarati, Devanagari and Latin scripts
- Headless CMS on serverless Postgres with object storage

## Questions

### How do you migrate a multilingual site without half translated pages?

Each language is set up as its own complete site. If a page does not exist in Hindi, the Hindi site never quietly serves Gujarati in its place, so readers always get one language, start to finish.

### What happens to ten years of existing URLs?

Every one is permanently redirected to its new address, so search rankings and inbound links survive the move and the full value of the archive carries over.

### Was the old brand kept?

Yes. The colours and tone were written down as rules before any page was rebuilt, so the new site reads as theirs rather than as a template.
