# Engineering CAD and photoreal 3D, built by an agent driving Blender

Entry E21. Sector: Electrical components manufacturer, and an oral-care brand. Status: in production. Delivered: 2026-09.
Source: https://ai.prospicience.in/work/agent-driven-cad-and-3d

For an electrical components manufacturer, Prospicience turned a supplied engineering drawing and a published standard into a complete package: a valid solid model, dimensioned drawings, 4K studio renders and a 3D viewer that runs offline from a single file. For an oral-care brand, a product image became a photoreal model with 5,239 individually modelled bristle filaments.

Speed: Each delivery in under two hours.

## The challenge

Turning a drawing into something a client can inspect, review and build from usually means CAD licences, a specialist, and a file the client cannot open without buying software.

## Why it mattered

Every review round waits on whoever holds the licence, and a model nobody else can open slows sign-off with buyers and suppliers. A reconstruction that quietly guesses an unclear dimension can travel all the way to the factory floor, where the mistake is far more expensive.

## What we built

- Reconstructed a transformer bushing stem from a supplied drawing and a published standard, with helical threads and a recessed engraving.
- Delivered a standalone 3D viewer that runs offline with no software, plus a solid model, dimensioned drawings and 4K studio renders.
- Built a photoreal product reconstruction from a supplied image, with every bristle filament individually modelled.
- Rendered short films from the same scenes for client review.

## The result

- The client has one file anyone can open in a browser, offline, with orbit, zoom, preset views and snapshots.
- A CAD package ready for engineering review: a valid single solid, three A3 vector sheets and an editable drawing with 27 native dimensions.
- Every unclear dimension arrives flagged for confirmation, so engineering review starts from a clear list.
- A photoreal product model that rescales to a measured size in one step.

## Built for trust

Every value is labelled for what it is: read from the drawing, derived, or provisional. A dimension the source drawing left ambiguous is flagged as unresolved rather than assumed, and the photoreal product model is delivered clearly as a visual reconstruction, separate from manufacturing CAD. Every deliverable ships with its checks recorded: zero non-manifold edges, zero drawing export errors, a valid solid.

## AI at work

An AI agent drives Blender to turn each supplied drawing or product photo into a model, drawings and renders, labelling every value as read, derived or provisional. Engineers review a short list of open questions instead of starting from a blank file.

What it produces: Valid solid models and dimensioned drawings, 4K studio renders and short review films, Offline 3D viewers in a single file, Photoreal product reconstructions, A flagged list of unclear dimensions.

- Each delivery came together in under two hours.
- Unclear dimensions arrive flagged, so engineering review starts from a clear list.
- Every model stays editable with its features exposed, so a confirmed dimension is a quick change rather than a rebuild.
- A photoreal product model rescales to a measured size in one step.

How it works day to day: A drawing or product image goes in, with any published standard it follows. The agent builds the model in Blender, runs its checks (a valid solid, clean edges, clean exports) and marks anything the source left unclear. An engineer confirms the flagged values, and the client receives files anyone can open.

## Figures from the delivered system

- bristle filaments individually modelled: 5,239
- native dimensions in the drawing export: 27
- non-manifold edges: zero
- drawing export errors: zero
- viewer requirements: none, runs offline
- vector A3 drawing sheets: 3

## The technology

- A drawing becomes a model you can turn around in a browser
- Ships as one file that works offline, with no software to install
- Comes with drawings, renders and a solid 3D reference model
- Anything the drawing left unclear is marked, not guessed

### Technical notes

- Agent driven modelling in Blender from a supplied drawing and a published dimensional standard
- Deliverable set: standalone browser viewer, GLB, editable scene, 4K renders, vector CAD sheets, dimensioned DXF, and a valid single solid STEP export
- Provisional and reference markers applied per dimension where the source was ambiguous
- Verification pass recorded with the delivery: manifold check, export error check, solid validity
- Photoreal reconstruction with per filament geometry rather than a texture approximation

## Questions

### Can AI produce CAD from an engineering drawing?

Yes. The agent drives the modelling software directly, and the result checks out as a valid solid with dimensioned exports. Values the drawing leaves ambiguous are marked provisional, so engineering review focuses exactly where it is needed.

### Is a photoreal 3D model the same as engineering CAD?

No, and we keep the two clearly apart. A model reconstructed from a product image is visually accurate with estimated dimensions, and the delivery says so, so estimated figures never reach a factory as if they were measured.

### What does the client actually receive?

A single file that opens in any browser and works offline, alongside the solid model, drawings and renders. No licence, no account, and no dependence on us to open their own files.

Capabilities: agent-driven-3d-and-cad, document-intelligence.
